The position is located in the Financial Management Department at the Management and Specialty Training Center, located in Aurora, CO. Responsible for budget and planning formulation, accounting, management of financial resources and providing leadership over property management and procurement for the training centers. Serves as the primary management consultant and advisor on budget and program considerations and participates as a member of the Division Budget and Planning Committee which allocates operating funds for Training Departments and programs within the Bureau. Responsible for overall management of the Financial Management Office and supervises a professional staff of Financial and Procurement personnel by providing technical and administrative direction, guidance and control in accounting, cash processing, voucher examination, budgeting, procurement, property management. Responsible for developing policy, providing expert advice in an area of correctional specialty, or to provide guidance, direction, supervision, advice and/or evaluation for a program or programs in correctional facilities. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
EducationThere is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this grade level. ExperienceYou must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progress for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of qualifying experience are:
Experience with accounting and budgeting principles, concepts, theories and practices, and financial reporting and standards for agencies. Experience with budget formulation and execution, financial management, management of procurement and property functions, oversight of credit card programs, and serves as liaison for financial matters with management and executive staff. Experience of the Financial Management System (FMS, Financial Management Information System (FMIS), the SENTRY Real Property Management System (SRPMS), and the SENTRY Property Management System (SPMS). If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities.
