Job Summary & Essential Functions:
Perform a variety of repair, rebuild, modification and assembly of various types of railroad freight cars and their parts. All work performed must meet current AAR and quality assurance guidelines and requirements.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Perform a variety of repair, rebuilding, fabrication and modification operations under direction from supervisor on various types of cars
Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs
Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
Ensure AAR quality assurance standards are met
Follow all safety rules and procedures
Interact with crew members and supervisors in a team environment
Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner
Comply with the established safety policies and support continuing awareness for safety
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment including but not limited to pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, and forklifts safely and proficiently
Knowledge of machines and tools required to weld, cut, and gouge
Eye-Hand coordination
Attention to details
Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time effectively with the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Ability to work under tight time constraints, handle sensitive data, and multi-task so that deadlines can be met
Required Experience / Education / Training / Certifications:
High School diploma or equivalent is desired
Good oral and written communication skills
Welding experience is a plus
Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:
The environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and dusty conditions
Employees are required to use personal protective equipment as environmental conditions dictate

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
