Chemical Engineering Co-op (Spring 2019)

The internship program has openings for Chemical Engineering co-op?s who are ready for new and exciting challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Major Accountabilities:
Assists Refinery Process Engineers by providing technical support for a variety of refinery units in order to achieve the most optimum performance while meeting the company's safety, environmental, and economic objectives.
Assists in providing engineering services, such as, process performance evaluation, optimization of refinery operations, troubleshooting, process simulation, and data analysis.
Performs routine engineering calculations (i.e., mass balances, energy balances, and conversion calculations).
Gathers, analyzes, and interprets pertinent unit operations data to troubleshoot and optimize operating issues.
Recognizes Safety, Health and Environmental issues that impact the unit, the refinery and all personnel.
Interprets instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
Projects usually include one or more of the following: equipment design and development, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments.
This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
Positions may be available at any of the following locations:
Port Arthur, TX - Port Arthur Refinery
San Antonio, TX ? Valero Headquarters
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering required.
Overall GPA of 3.4 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
Obtained at least 60 credit hours by the start of spring co-op required.
Graduation dates of August 2019 through May 2021 required.
Ability to work 40 hours per week required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
