Mechanical Engineering Intern (Summer 2019) - U.S. Refining Locations

The internship program has openings for Mechanical Engineering Interns who are ready for new and exciting challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Major Accountabilities:
Assists Refinery Mechanical Engineers, Inspectors and/or Metallurgists in providing technical support for a variety of refinery units in order to achieve reliable equipment performance and maximize equipment mechanical availability while meeting the company's safety, environmental, and economic objectives.
Assists in providing engineering services, such as, mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, fitness for service evaluations, equipment repair plan development, materials selection, root cause analysis of mechanical or corrosion related failures, troubleshooting equipment performance and developing recommended maintenance practices.
Performs routine engineering calculations (i.e., determinate statics, mechanical stress (normal, shear, bending, hoop), fluid flow, heat transfer and remaining life projections).
Analyzes and interprets pertinent inspection data to determine equipment life and develop repair or improvement plans.
Works with process engineers to design and install new projects and other improvements to the refining units.
Recognizes Safety, Health and Environmental issues that impact the unit, the refinery and all personnel. Interprets instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
Projects usually include one or more of the following: equipment design, preparation of specifications, equipment integrity evaluations, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor?s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering required.
Overall GPA of 3.4 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
Obtained at least 60 credit hours by the start of summer internship required.
Graduation dates of August 2019 through May 2021 required.
Able to work 40 hours per weeks in the summer required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
